Medal Creep, or "Next Slide"

  3. That is so much right on with an HHC!! So many times I have seen enlisted and officers get awards that other are more deserving but because some higher up wants to get this one guy/girl promoted they get it over the more deserving soldier!!!

  4. When I was stationed on 29 Palms we had a ceremony for a young man receiving the SILVER STAR for shielding an officer from bullets. After the ceremony I walked under the bleachers and towards the parking lot and noticed that there was a plaque for a young marine who gave his life protecting two of his junior marines from direct fire and grenades by using his body to shield his junior marines. The plaque said he received the BRONZE STAR. The only real difference between the two scenarios: The bronze star recipient gave his life and was protecting two E3's, the Silver Star recipient protected an O1 and survived. Pissed me off.
