I turn around, and there he is...STANDING ON TOP OF THE HMMWV LOOKING THROUGH BINOS while mortar rounds are coming in, and rounds are snapping past us. He was fully exposed. DAMN! GET DOWN! It was his first time being shot at...and almost his last.
