Watch it, Pogues!

  1. It"s POG. Person other than grunt. Kind of taking back the word grunt(ground replacement usually not trainable) for infantry folk.

  2. Actually Bill Pogue is a real word and this is the correct spelling. POG became an acronym because, well honestly a shit ton of soldiers are basically illiterate.

  3. It's Pogue and your lame backromyn doesn't work because a POG is a plastic or cardboard game piece from the 1980s, often colorfully decorated, that you hit with a slammer. Another American cultural fail.

  5. Pogue is gaelic for kiss. An Australian soldier once told me that POG stood for "Posted on Garrison". I always thought that made more sense than our lame backronym.
